European Bar Semi Final, 2017

Amsterdam again plays host to the only international competition devoted to bean to bar and micro-batch plain and origin chocolate bars produced in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, now in it’s third edition.
The European Bar Semi Final 2017 focuses on cacao origins, varieties and chocolate production quality, exploring and celebrating the nuanced notes of fine origin chocolate from Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Winners of this regional round for plain/origin chocolate bars will go through to World Final in London in October 2017. The competition is supported by the Hilton Amsterdam, by Amsterdam’s leading chocolate festival Chocoa and bean to bar chocolate shop Chocolatl.
Dark milk bars
2017 sees the introduction of our new ‘Dark milk‘ category for high cacao percentage milk chocolate bars, with over 50% cacao solids. We also continue to recognise micro-batch chocolate making, with micro-batch categories for dark and milk bars and overall ‘best in show’ prizes for best overall plain dark and milk bars
Since our first competitions in 2012, the International Chocolate Awards has championed fine chocolate made in cacao countries, with special prizes for high quality ‘Growing Country‘ prize-winning bars within our main plain/origin categories. In 2017 we continue this tradition, recognising the success and quality of cacao growing country chocolate makers producing world class chocolate within our main categories.
Open to all companies producing chocolate directly from cacao and also private-label bean sourcers with their main office or headquarters in Europe, the Middle East or Africa. This competition is for unflavoured plain/origin bars only.
Companies who also enter a regional or national chocolatier competition in 2017 will only be charged a single registration fee.
The admission fee for this competition is EUR €55 and the fee for each entry is EUR €40. Prices will be converted into local currency by your credit card company, if required.

To ensure your samples are in the best condition for the competition, please do not send for delivery before the samples opening date. For fresh products such as ganaches, you are advised to send in the last week before the closing date.
