In 2017 the Americas competition enters its sixth year, again combining with Asia-Pacific to make it the largest round in the 2017 Awards calendar. As one of our founding competitions, Americas and Asia-Pacific brings together bean-to-bar chocolate bars and chocolatier products from diverse cultures to celebrate innovation and excellence in fine chocolate, including the USA – home of the micro-batch craft chocolate movement – Japan, and many of the Latin and Caribbean countries that grow fine cacao.
The Americas and Asia-Pacific competition includes standard and micro-batch categories for plain/origin chocolate bars and all other chocolatier categories – flavoured bars, filled chocolates/bonbons and spreads. Includes all Americas, Asia-Pacific and Oceania countries and regions, except Canadian chocolatier products, which are judged at the Canadian competition in September.
Bean to bar filled chocolates and Dark Milk bars
For the first time we will be recognising filled chocolates made by bean-to-bar chocolate makers made using their own chocolate. Products will be recognised with discretional special prizes and winners will be identified as bean-to-bar own chocolate. We will also be adding a new ‘dark milk’ category for the first time for plain/origin milk chocolate bars made with 50% or greater cocoa solids.
Open to all entrants with their main office or headquarters in North and South American, Asia-Pacific and Oceania, for all categories.
Canadian companies may only enter plain/origin bar entries in the Americas and Asia Pacific competition. The Canadian National Competition for chocolatier products – flavoured bars, filled chocolates and spreads, will take place in Toronto in September 2017. (Only one registration fee will be charged).
The admission fee for this competition is USD $60 and the fee for each entry is USD $45. Prices will be converted into local currency by your credit card company, if required.

To ensure your samples are in the best condition for the competition, please do not send for delivery before the samples opening date. For fresh products such as ganaches, you are advised to send in the last week before the closing date.

To ensure that we have enough products go through our Selection, Main and Grand Jury judging rounds, please send the following quantities of EACH product you enter:
- Bars: 400g (14 ounces) total weight
- Filled/bonbons etc: 40 pieces
- Spreads: 300 grams/10 ounces
