British National Competition, 2017

The only chocolate competition devoted to excellence in fine chocolate products made within the UK. The British competition celebrates craft in flavoured bars, filled chocolates and spreads throughout the country and will be judged in the historic UK chocolate city of York.

Judging will take place in York 11 – 14 May 2017 and the winners will be presented at a ceremony in York in early June, details to be announced.


Open to all companies with their main base or head office in the United Kingdom for flavoured bars, filled chocolates and spreads.

Hand deliveries of samples are accepted, but must be correctly labelled and securely boxed to avoid damage.

Plain/origin and plain milk or white bars will be judged at the European plain/origin bar competition in Amsterdam in June.

This is a national/regional competition for all categories EXCEPT Plain/origin dark, milk and white bars. These categories are judged at the Semi-final competition, held in Netherlands.

The admission fee for this competition is GBP £47.5 and the fee for each entry is GBP £35. Prices will be converted into local currency by your credit card company, if required.

To ensure your samples are in the best condition for the competition, please do not send for delivery before the samples opening date. For fresh products such as ganaches, you are advised to send in the last week before the closing date.

Sample quantities

To ensure that we have enough products go through our Selection, Main and Grand Jury judging rounds, please send the following quantities of EACH product you enter:

    • Bars: 400g (14 ounces) total weight
  • Filled/bonbons etc: 40 pieces


  • Spreads: 300 grams/10 ounces
