The International Chocolate Awards is pleased to announce the Grand Jury Finalists of the 2017 Peruvain Competition, which was judged in Lima, Peru 6 – 8 July, 2017 at the VIII Salón del Cacao y Chocolate. Sponsored by the International Chocolate Awards, the competition will be run using the International Chocolate Awards judging system and rules and will be adjudicated by members of our Grand Jury. This Cacao Country Support Competition judges bars, filled chocolates, and chocolate beverages, and it is not part of our 2017 World Final qualifying series. Designed as a self-contained National Competition, it is a model world-wide contests where we will help establish objective and transparent benchmarks that contribute to the self-evaluation of emerging fine chocolate industries in cacao-growing countries.
The contest took place in the historic city of Lima as part of the activities of the VIII Salón del Cacao y Chocolate, Peru and is devoted entirely to celebrating the emergence of a fine chocolate industry in Peru, a country whose growing cacao potential and genetic diversity promises to support the development of a strong chocolate industry based on fine origin chocolate.
The Grand Jury Finalists are the entries that made it through to the final Grand Jury round, following an initial technical Selection round and four days of Main round judging. The Finalists are the nominations from which the Grand Jury select the prize winners, through private voting. The Grand Jury follow strict rules, which you can read here (PDF).
While listing as a Grand Jury Finalist is an achievement in itself, it does not necessarily indicate that the entry will receive a prize.
