Americas, 2018

Location: New York Metropolitan Region, United States
Judging dates: May 14, 2018 – May 19, 2018

In 2018 the Americas competition enters its seventh year and brings together bean-to-bar chocolate bars and chocolatier products from North, South and Central America to celebrate innovation and excellence in fine chocolate, including the USA – home of the micro-batch craft chocolate movement and the Latin and Caribbean countries that grow fine cacao.

The Americas competition includes standard and micro-batch categories for plain/origin chocolate bars and all other chocolatier categories – flavoured bars, filled chocolates/bonbons and spreads. This includes all Americas countries and regions, except Canadian chocolatier products, which are judged at the Canadian competition in September. Canadian bean-to-bar flavoured bars will be judged alongside plain/origin chocolate bars in this year’s Americas competition.

Asia-Pacific: Please note that due to the success and growing size of the Asia-Pacific competition, from 2018 Asia-Pacific will have its own separate competition, which will be held in Taiwan in September. Bean-to-bar plain/origin and flavoured bars will be required by July 2018. Full details to follow soon.

New for 2018 – Chocolatier and Bean-to-bar competitions

From 2018 onwards, our regional competitions will become Chocolatier competitions, focusing on the craft and skill of small-scale chocolatiers who work with chocolate couverture and flavouring ingredients to create fine chocolate bars, bonbons and spreads. This includes bean to bar makers also producing bonbons and spreads.

Our Bean-to-Bar Chocolate maker competitions will focus on fine, craft and micro-batch chocolate makers who work directly from cacao beans to produce plain/origin and flavoured chocolate bars.

Eligibility

Open to all entrants with their main office or headquarters in North, South and Central American, for all categories.

Canadian companies may only enter plain/origin and flavoured bar entries in the Americas competition. The Canadian National Competition for chocolatier products – flavoured bars made with couverture, filled chocolates and spreads, will take place in Toronto in September 2018. (Only one registration fee will be charged for companies entering both competitions).

The admission fee for this competition is USD $65 and the fee for each entry is USD $50. Prices will be converted into local currency by your credit card company, if required.
