Italian/Mediterranean Chocolatier, 2019

Location: Florence, Italy
Judging dates: March 8, 2019 – March 12, 2019
Eligible countries: Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Israel, Italy, Malta, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, United Arab Emirates


The combined Italian National and Mediterranean regional rounds, bringing together cultures and chocolate companies sharing the influence and ingredients of the Mediterranean sea, including African companies. This competition is for chocolatiers working from couverture.

Bean-to-bar chocolate makers of plain/origin and flavored bars can participate to the European Bean-to-Bar competition, which will take place on 12 – 16 June 2019 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Winners of these competitions will pass through to the World Final in Florence, in October 2019.


Italian/Mediterranean Awards Ceremony will also be held in Florence, on March 30th. Details soon.



This competition judges filled chocolates, bonbons and pralines, flavoured bars and chocolate spreads made by chocolatiers and is open to all companies with their main business or head office in the countries listed and all Middle Eastern and African companies.

This is a Chocolatier competition for all categories EXCEPT for Plain/origin and Flavoured dark, milk and white bars made by Bean-to-Bar chocolate makers. These products are judged at the regional Bean-to-Bar competition, held in: Denmark.

The admission fee for this competition is EUR €55 and the fee for each entry is EUR €45. Prices will be converted into local currency by your credit card company, if required.

Sample quantities

To ensure that we have enough products go through our Selection, Main and Grand Jury judging rounds, please send the following quantities of EACH product you enter:

  • Bars: 400g (14 ounces) total weight total weight
  • Filled/bonbons etc: 40 pieces pieces
  • Spreads: 1 jar (min 300 grams/10 ounces)
