World Drinking Chocolate Competition

hot chocolateFollowing the success of last year’s pilot competition, this is our first full competition for Drinking Chocolate, open to all entrants from around the world.

The competition will be hosted at the second Schokolade Gourmet Festival in Hannover Germany, 11 – 13 September 2015.

Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes will be awarded by the Grand Jury after a single round of judging, held in public view at the Festival in the Awards marquee, with samples prepared by our team of chefs according to entrants‘ recipes.

As well as the main Drinking Chocolate Categories, the Grand Jury can also give special prizes for unsweetened drinks, drinks made with cocoa powder, drinks with thickener or drinks with or without flavourings.

Chocolate drinks with alcohol – pilot

In this competition, we will be piloting a single trial category for alcoholic drinks/liquors made with chocolate or cacao products (cocoa butter, cocoa powder, cocoa mass etc).

Entrants may participate in this pilot, but all responsibility for delivery and import of the samples for this category and any taxes or duties due will be with the entrant. Please provide at least a 300ml sample.

People’s Choice Award

Schokolade Gourmet Festival are also holding a ‚People’s Choice‘ round, where festival visitors will pay a small fee to taste several different hot chocolates and vote for their favourite. Participation is optional at no extra fee. Please send an extra 1kg if you wish to participate in the Festival People’s Choice Award.


Open to all chocolate companies around the World. Our normal rules apply about all-natural ingredients and minimum percentages. Please see our Categories and Rules PDF for details.

Please note that products entered must be available for retail sale in a form that consumers can take away and prepare or consume at home. Products must be on sale for at least one month in 2015.

Recipe: A recipe must be provided for each entry. Please note, the only ingredients we can provide are water or milk/cream, heated as directed and sugar if required.

Die Teilnahmegebühr für den Wettbewerb ist €55 zuzüglich €35 für jedes zu bewertende Produkt. (Eine mögliche Umrechnung in die lokale Währung erfolgt durch den Kreditkartenabrechnungsstelle – sofern nötig).
