El, Concurso Nacional de Chocolate Peruano will be held for the sixth time in Peru from August 1 to September 30, 2021 under the auspices of the International Chocolate Awards with the aim of promoting the emerging fine chocolate industry and fine cacao production in Peru. As one of the virtual activities of the XII Edition of the Lima 2021 Salon de Cacao y Chocolate, the competition is organized in collaboration with the “Committee of the Salón de Cacao y Chocolate” composed by the following national and international organizations: the Peruvian Association of Cacao Producers (APPCACAO), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and its operating partners Alianza Cacao Peru (ACP) , the National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (DEVIDA), the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERU), the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR), the Ministry of Production (Produce) , the United Nations Program (UNDP) and the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI).

It is important to mention that although Peru is in a state of health emergency due to COVID-19; the execution of business events has been reactivated taking into account the Health Protocols established in national regulations. In this context, and in accordance with the guidelines for health surveillance, the Organizing Committee has decided to execute this sixth contest taking into account the protocols of the International Chocolate Awards and its online system. This contest, the first of its kind in a cacao-producing country, will take place in the historic city of Lima and is open to all organizations, companies and chocolatiers in Peru, accepting the following products: chocolate bars of origin (dark, with milk and white); flavored chocolate bars – natural flavors – (dark, milk and white) with infusions or powders, with inclusions and fillings, pralines and chocotejas, chocolate-coated fruits and cacao ingredients such as cocoa powder and cocoa butter.

The competition will be carried out according to a duly validated online system and will be in two stages, after receipt and coding of products, 1) General Evaluation, which consists of an appreciation of the products by a heterogeneous group of evaluators (qualified national and international guest judges) 2) Final Evaluation by a highly specialized Grand Jury.

This Sixth National Peruvian Chocolate Contest constitutes one of the activities of the XII Edition of the Lima 2021 Cocoa and Chocolate Show and the Awards Ceremony will take place on October 1, 2021 July at 5:00 p.m. at the Lima Convention Center, Online and In-Person.

Eleggibilità

Open to all Peruvian companies with their main office or headquarters located in Peru. The competition accepts entries from the following types of products: plain/origin chocolate bars (dark, milk or white); flavoured bars (dark, milk or white), with natural ingredients, with infusions, inclusions, and pralines and drageé.

* We are not accepting production with a shelf life of less than two months for this competition and are not accepting ganaches, spreads, truffles and bonbons or drinking chocolate and alcoholic drinks with alcohol.

The Sexto Concurso Nacional de Chocolate Peruano is a Cacao Country Support Competition and not part of our World Final qualifying series of competitions for 2021-22. National prizes will be presented in Lima at the Salón del Cacao y Chocolate.
